Building robots and making them think. Experience in 3D printing, 3D modelling & visualisation, robot infrastructure, and reinforcement learning
Tell us about your journey before you joined the Centre for AI in Assistive Autonomy?
I spent 5 Years studying for a Master’s degree in Robotics at Heriot-Watt University. I have held previous roles in robotics R&D developing new robots for specific tasks. I met my peers during time spent at FiveAI where I worked on visualisation for self-driving data.
What motivates you to work in this area?
Reinforcement learning is an interesting field. It covers a wide variety of factors, techniques, setup, mathematics, and planning. Cloth manipulation is a challenging domain due to its deformability. Its rarely the same shape twice.
What do you do in your spare time?
3D modelling and 3D printing are my main hobbies. I design my own tools, figurines, and artwork.
