The Centre for AI for Assistive Autonomy provided a glimpse into its latest assistive driving research at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) Science & Technology Conference, held this week at the University of Edinburgh.
Over a two‑day programme, the conference brought together more than 130 members of the FCDO Science & Technology Network from over 50 countries. The event aimed to strengthen international collaboration and highlight UK excellence across priority areas including health, climate, and emerging technologies such as AI and quantum computing.

Strengthening Global Partnerships

Delegates engaged in constructive discussions on potential collaborations with partners across Canada, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Sweden and several other regions. These conversations underscored mutual interest in human‑centred AI, mobility innovation, and the role of assistive autonomy in addressing the needs of ageing populations worldwide.

The day concluded with continued networking at an evening reception in the historic Playfair Library, offering further opportunity for dialogue between researchers, policymakers, and international science advisors. The Centre looks forward to building on the momentum of these discussions and advancing global efforts in assistive autonomy.
