Phd Student

Servinar is a PhD student in the Institute of Perception, Action and Behaviour (IPAB). Servinar’s thesis project focuses on the verification and validation (V&V) of control systems, with applications in autonomous driving and advanced assisted driving systems.

Tell us about your journey before you joined the Centre for AI in Assistive Autonomy?

Prior to joining the Centre, I studied Mathematics with Statistics, which provided a strong grounding in the fundamentals of machine learning, numerical analysis and statistical computing. Since graduating, I’ve been particularly interested in bridging theoretical foundations with applied systems by developing methods that can one day support and assist people in the real world.

What motivates you to work in this area?

I’m motivated by the challenges of ensuring safety and reliability in transportation. My goal is to help enable accessibility and efficiency of mobility for present and future generations.

What do you love about Edinburgh?

Edinburgh is a historic city, abundant with myths and legends. It’s also ideal for anyone who enjoys the Scottish Highlands, academia, and a glass of whisky.
